WHAT: Trainee Teaching Assistant supporting pupils with learning difficulties and behaviour problems in secondary school aged 12-16 yrs

The demand for school staff is at an alll time high which is why our partner school has asked us to find them trainee teaching assistants who may not have worked in a school before but possess all the characteristics to be successful. That coupled with constant investment and training is what the school is looking for!
The Role:
- Based in a Comprehensive school
- Full time Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3pm (Term time only)
- January start until July 2022
- Support children with learning difficulties, emotional difficulties, academics and well-being
- Training provided - safeguarding level 2, team teach, autims awareness
What has worked very well previously in this type of role is candidates with sports, youth work, care, nursing, coaching, drama and personal experience with children. Your personality and attitude is the main factor when choosing the successful trainee teaching assistant. A minimum of core GCSE’s is required.
The job of a teaching assistant is a vital role in education it bridges the gap between teacher and student to digest information, motivate and encourage to fulfil their potential. This teaching assistant role consists of working 1:1 and in small groups with children with either challenging behaviour or special educational needs. You will build a rapport with the child in order to gain their attention and help them focus on the work, aiding their learning. The types of special needs you will be supporting are autism, ADHD, hearing and visual impairment, social and emotional and mental health!
You'll be joining a large team of teaching assistants that support the whole schools needs. There is a special needs resource base (SNRB) within the school and depending on how confident you are that could be a place where you will be situated.
Trainee Teaching Assistant:
- Must have an enhanced DBS (assistance provided)
- Registered with the education workforce council (assistance provided)
- A minimum of core GCSE's
- Provide 2 recent references
The Headteacher of the school is looking for someone who wants a career in education. There will be many training opportunities provided for the successful trainee teaching assistant as well as mentoring at the school.
