Hours: Part-time or Full-time, Monday to Friday, term time only
Pay: £92.56–£105 per day
Start: Immediate and ongoing
I’m recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across Middlesbrough. These roles have a behaviour focus but aren’t one-to-one. You’ll support pupils across Key Stage 3 and 4 (Years 7 to 11), working between mainstream classrooms and the school’s inclusion room.
What the role involves
- Supporting teachers in lessons so pupils can stay focused and the class keeps moving
- Working with small groups or individual pupils who need extra help with their learning or behaviour
- Spending time in the inclusion room with pupils who’ve been removed from lessons, keeping them on task and helping them get back to class
- Stepping in early to calm situations down before they escalate
- Building positive relationships with pupils who find school hard
- Following each school’s behaviour policy consistently
What I’m looking for
- Experience working with young people, ideally including some with challenging behaviour. This could be in a school, a pupil referral unit, youth work, residential care, sports coaching or similar
- Someone who stays calm under pressure and holds boundaries consistently
- Confidence working with teenagers, including older Year 10 and 11 pupils
- A Teaching Assistant qualification or Team Teach training is a bonus, but not essential
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
What you get from me
- Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement
- Access to free CPD training courses to boost your skills and employability
- Flexible opportunities with pathways into permanent roles
- Competitive daily pay, paid weekly via PAYE
- Valuable classroom experience to support teacher training applications
