We are looking for a resilient, compassionate, and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school team supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who may face challenges related to behaviour, Special Educational Needs (SEN), or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
You will play a key part in helping students feel supported, regulated, and engaged in learning while building positive relationships that encourage confidence and progress.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students
- Support pupils with SEMH, SEN, and behavioural needs
- Use calm and consistent behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Build strong, trusting relationships with young people
- Encourage positive engagement in learning and school life
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and SEN teams
- Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

The successful candidate will have:
- Strong behaviour management skills
- A calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Confidence working with teenagers in a busy school environment
- Resilience, empathy, and professionalism
- A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
