Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and succeed in education?

We are looking for a resilient, compassionate, and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school team supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who may face challenges related to behaviour, Special Educational Needs (SEN), or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

You will play a key part in helping students feel supported, regulated, and engaged in learning while building positive relationships that encourage confidence and progress.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students
  • Support pupils with SEMH, SEN, and behavioural needs
  • Use calm and consistent behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people
  • Encourage positive engagement in learning and school life
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and SEN teams
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A calm, patient, and consistent approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Confidence working with teenagers in a busy school environment
  • Resilience, empathy, and professionalism
  • A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
