**1-1 Teaching Assistant required in Bournemouth**

  • Full Time (school hours)
  • Behaviour Support
  • Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Bournemouth Area

Teaching Personnel are working with a client school in the Bournemouth area, seeking Teaching Assistants to support pupils on a 1-1 basis. This is to start as soon as possible once the schools re-open, and will be full time (school hours), Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4pm.

The school is a Pupil Referral Unit, catering for pupils who have been excluded from mainstream school (both temporarily and permanently). The school also caters for pupils with mental health needs, Autism, ADHD and Anxiety. The pupils are all within the Secondary age group, in Key stages 3 and 4. The pupils can display challenging behaviour so you must be confident supporting this.

As a 1-1 Teaching Assistant, you will be working with an individual pupil under the guidance of the class teacher; to support them with their education and to provide emotional and behavioural support. This role can be based inside the classroom, outside of the class in an allocated workspace, or may be off-site.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • experience working with children and/or young adults with behaviour needs
  • resilience and confidence dealing with challenging behaviour
  • an understanding of the National Curriculum to be able to support pupils with their work
  • a full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for off-site work (not a requirement as we also have on-site opportunities)
  • a calm, nurturing approach
  • a good sense of humour
  • Team Teach training (Teaching Personnel can support you with this if you don't already have this)

Experience in a school is not required, we would also welcome applicants with experience in Sports Coaching, Youth Work, Residential and Social Care, Childcare and Mental Health Support, as well as graduates of relevant subjects, and people with personal experiences of supporting these needs (e.g. family members).

This is initially a temporary position, however there will be the opportunities to become permanent for the right candidate.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
