Primary School Teaching Assistant (1:1 Behaviour Support – Year 2)
Location: NP19, Newport
Contract Type: Full Time (September Start)
Integration: Part-time/flexible integration available this term
Pay: From £92.63 per day (weekly pay)
Teaching Personnel are working with primary schools in the NP19 area of Newport seeking dedicated, patient, and resilient Teaching Assistants to provide 1:1 behavioural support for a Year 2 pupil.
This role is ideal for individuals who are nurturing yet consistent, and confident in supporting young children with behavioural and emotional needs within a classroom setting.
About the Role
- Provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with behavioural needs
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour development
- Implement behaviour strategies and individual support plans
- Use positive reinforcement and early intervention techniques
- Help the pupil engage with lessons and classroom routines
- Support transitions and reduce disruption to learning
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo
- Promote a safe, structured, and supportive environment
Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting children with behavioural challenges (KS1 desirable)
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Understanding of emotional regulation and child development
- Ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships
- Knowledge of safeguarding and wellbeing support
- Calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proactive and adaptable attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
