Job description

Primary School Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEN Support)

Location: NP22 (Tredegar)
Contract Type: Full Time / Part Time / Flexible
Pay: Weekly pay

Teaching Personnel are working with schools in the Tredegar (NP22) area seeking hardworking, adaptable, and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support pupils on a 1:1 basis, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs including Pica.

This is a rewarding role for individuals who are patient, resilient, and committed to supporting children with additional needs.


About the Role

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils with ASD and complex needs
  • Support sensory, communication, and behavioural development
  • Follow individual learning and behaviour plans
  • Promote safe behaviours and supervise pupils closely where required
  • Support emotional regulation and engagement in learning
  • Assist with routines, transitions, and structured activities
  • Work closely with teachers and SEN staff
  • Help maintain a safe and inclusive environment

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with SEN/ALN, particularly ASD
  • Understanding of Pica (or willingness to learn)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and behaviour support
  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexible and proactive attitude
