Behaviour Support Assistant – Huyton

Location: Norris Green, Merseyside
Position: Behaviour Support Assistant
Contract: Full-time, Long-term (with potential for permanent)
Start Date: ASAP

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on children’s lives? Our welcoming primary school in Huyton is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team and help create a safe, supportive learning environment for pupils with additional behavioural needs.

About You:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, patient, and resilient attitude.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g., Thrive Approach, Team Teach).

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience supporting children with behavioural or social/emotional needs (school or care setting preferred).
  • Calm, patient, and resilient when managing challenging situations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and willingness to learn new approaches.
  • A proactive attitude and commitment to helping every child succeed.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural needs.
  • Implement behaviour strategies and interventions under teacher guidance.

Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
