Behaviour Support Assistant – Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Bargoed & Caerphilly

Location: Bargoed, Caerphilly
Hours: Monday–Friday | 08:30 – 15:00 | Term-Time Only
Pay: £90 per day
Start Date: Monday 5th January 2026

We’re delighted to be supporting a dedicated Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Caerphilly as they seek a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support learners aged 11–18 through 1:1 sessions and small group work

  • Work closely with teaching staff to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development

  • Provide tailored support for students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including:

    • ASD

    • ADHD

    • Dyslexia

    • Social, emotional, and behavioural needs (SEBD)

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll be a great fit if you have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with ALN or behavioural challenges

  • A background in roles such as:
    Youth work, classroom support, behaviour support, mentoring, coaching, sports leadership (football, rugby, boxing), police, prison service, army/cadets, teaching assistant roles

  • Confidence using positive behaviour strategies to boost engagement and learning

  • A genuine passion for helping young people who may not thrive in mainstream school settings
