Behaviour Specialist – Primary Schools

Are you passionate about supporting children who face barriers to learning?
We are seeking dedicated Behaviour Specialists to work within a network of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Swansea from September 2026. This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional, and social support to fully engage in education.
You will play a vital role in helping pupils develop positive relationships, improve emotional regulation, build confidence, and achieve success both academically and personally.
Whether your experience comes from education, youth work, residential care, mental health support, sports coaching, or community services, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.
Location: Swansea and surrounding areas
Pay Rate: £14.25 per hour
Pay Type: Weekly PAYE Pay (No Umbrella Companies)
Contract: Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available
Start Date: September 2026
The Role
As a Behaviour Specialist, you will work closely with class teachers, ALNCOs, senior leaders, and pastoral teams to provide targeted support for pupils displaying challenging behaviour or experiencing social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering one-to-one behavioural interventions.
- Supporting pupils during lessons to improve engagement and participation.
- Implementing behaviour support plans and individual strategies.
- Assisting pupils with emotional regulation and conflict resolution.
- Supporting children during unstructured times including breaktimes and lunchtimes.
- Encouraging positive social interactions and relationship-building.
- Recording observations and reporting progress to school staff.
- Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Typical Pupils You May Support
You may work with children who:
- Display challenging or disruptive behaviours.
- Have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences.
- Struggle with emotional regulation.
- Require additional support to access learning.
- Have diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), or attachment-related difficulties.
What We're Looking For
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, coaching, mentoring, support work, or similar settings.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Confidence managing challenging situations positively and professionally.
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learning and behaviour.

Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Two professional references covering the previous two years.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
