A specialist SEMH Secondary School in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their team from September 2026. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to support students who have experienced challenges in education and help them re-engage with learning, develop emotional resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students aged 11-16 who require additional behavioural, emotional, and pastoral support. You will act as a trusted adult, helping students develop coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

Many pupils may have experienced:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties
  • Autism and ADHD
  • Attachment needs
  • Challenging behaviour and disengagement from education

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group mentoring sessions
  • Supporting students to manage behaviour positively
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with young people
  • Assisting students during lessons to maximise engagement
  • Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
  • Promoting a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
