Behaviour mentor-  April start- full-time & permanent 

A primary school in Leeds (LS9) are in need of a Behaviour mentor from the Easter holidays until at least the end of the academic year with a permanent contract from September 2023. There are some support staff leaving the school in the Easter holidays, meaning that the SLT are having to reorganise the structure of the staff. Therefore, the school are in need of an experienced behaviour mentor to provide support across the school from EYFS - Year 6. The school have set out the following requirements for the role:

  • Experience of working in schools in any support role.
  • Experience handling children with challenging behaviour in any capacity.
  • SEN experience – particularly with ASC children.
  • Able to travel to LS9.
  • Free full-time, 5 days a week, from Easter until the end of the academic year, leading to a permanent contract from September 2023. 

About the school:

The role is at a 3-form entry primary school in Leeds, LS9, and will be mostly focussed on supporting pupils with Behavioural issues across the school. Some of the children may be on Individual Behaviour Plans and may also have Special Educational Needs. The school was rated as GOOD by Ofsted in 2018 and the Head has been at the school for a number of years, where performance and progress has remained consistent in this time. The school is an extremely pleasant and busy atmosphere to work in as the core staff have mostly been at the school for a long time, so know the school well and provide excellent support to any new members of staff. The school has higher than the national average SEN intake, and these children are well looked after as the school employs a high number of SEN Support staff and Teaching Assistants.

About the role:

This particular role will involve working with pupils across school from EYFS - Year 6 who are on Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) and who may have have additional needs including; Autism, Global Delay and SEMH. Over 80% of the pupils at this school speak English as an additional language and therefore the school are looking for a Behaviour mentor who is an excellent communicator. 

The Details:

The role is initially until the end of this academic year however, there is a chance this may be made permanent depending on your success in the role from September 2023. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
