Job Title: Behaviour Mentor (1:1 Support – ASD & Emotional Regulation)
Location: Cwmbran (NP44 & surrounding areas)
Contract Type: Full Time
Pay: From £89.38 per day
Start Date: After October Half Term 2025

Teaching Personnel are seeking a resilient, caring, and dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work 1:1 with a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who experiences emotional and behavioural dysregulation. This is an ideal role for someone passionate about helping young people develop confidence, coping strategies, and positive behaviour routines.
About the Role

Provide individualised 1:1 support to a pupil with ASD, helping them manage emotions and behaviour.

Build a trusting and supportive relationship that encourages self-regulation and engagement in learning.

Work with teachers and ALN/SEN staff to follow personalised behaviour and learning plans.

Support emotional development, positive behaviour, and academic participation in a calm, structured environment.

Encourage consistency, routine, and clear boundaries to help the pupil feel safe and supported.
Requirements

Experience supporting children or young people with ASD, SEMH, or challenging behaviour.

Patience, resilience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

Strong communication skills and a compassionate, consistent approach.

Confidence in setting and maintaining clear boundaries.

A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Behaviour management or Team Teach training (advantageous but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
