Behaviour Interventions Teaching Assistant

Location: Lancaster & Morecambe area
Start Date: February 2026 (until end of academic year)
Contract: Full‑time
Pay: Competitive (weekly PAYE)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Interventions Teaching Assistant to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and occasionally KS2 through targeted behaviour and learning interventions. You will deliver structured 1:1 and small‑group sessions aimed at improving behaviour, emotional regulation, engagement, and early academic outcomes.

You will work alongside the school’s SENDCo and SEN team, ensuring all interventions align with individual needs, behaviour plans and whole‑school expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver behaviour-focused interventions to support emotional regulation, social skills, and positive routines.
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support, tailoring sessions to the needs of identified pupils.
  • Assist with phonics and early literacy interventions to help close learning gaps.
  • Implement strategies for pupils with SEMH needs and/or autism, ensuring consistency and structure.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils to encourage improved behaviour and engagement.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of intervention plans, progress and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENDCo, and wider support teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with behavioural needs, SEMH, or challenging behaviour.
  • Confidence delivering targeted interventions independently.
  • Strong behaviour management with a calm, consistent approach.
  • Understanding of SEN strategies and, ideally, experience with EHCPs.
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable to a range of needs.
  • Experience supporting pupils with EAL is beneficial but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
