Autism Teaching Assistant – SEN Support

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism and Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Autism Teaching Assistant at a vibrant campus in Bournemouth.

This role offers variety, purpose, and the chance to work across both primary and secondary settings, supporting pupils aged 3 to 18 years.


About the Role

This is a rewarding position where you will provide tailored support to pupils with Autism and other SEN needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

The role runs from 8.45 am to 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday, and requires an immediate start.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with Autism in both classroom and one-to-one settings.
  • Assisting with personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Encouraging social interaction and communication skills.
  • Helping to create a safe, structured, and inclusive environment.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of six months’ childcare experience, ideally supporting children with SEN needs.
  • A genuine passion for education and helping young people thrive.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Patience, resilience, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of learners.

Experience with Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social and emotional challenges will be highly beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
