Autism support assistant
Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for the ideal candidate to join our team as an Autism Support Assistant in an aspirational, caring and supportive school across the Tameside area, to work with a child who is non-verbal and presents challenges towards being included in learning activities. This role has the potential to become a long-term opportunity through consistently building strong relationships with children who have additional needs on a 1:1 basis.
The Role:

You will be expected to create positive relationships with a childwith a range of special educational needs and disabilities and encourage positive behaviourchoices.

Workcloselyand collaborativelywith the Class Teacher and SENCO to implement and adapt learning strategies, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Monitor pupil progress and contribute to regular reviews of their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with ASD, focusing on communication, emotional regulation, learning outcomes and sensory needs.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Experience working with children or young people with Autism is essential.

A calm, caring, and consistent approach, with excellent communication skills, particularly with non-verbal children.

Resilience and adaptability to meet children’s changing needs throughout the school day.

A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Any training in Team Teach, SEND, SALT, Communication and language, Keys to Communication or Autism (or similar) is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
