Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant – February Start

Location: Norris Green, Liverpool
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary (with potential for permanent)
Start Date: February 2026
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism and making a real difference in their educational journey? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Norris Green, Liverpool is seeking a compassionate and experienced Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team this February.

This is a full-time role, initially temporary, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate. You’ll work 1:1 with a pupil with Autism, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalised support to a pupil with Autism, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential skills
  • Implement strategies aligned with the pupil’s EHCP and collaborate with SENCO and teaching staff
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to suit individual needs
  • Promote emotional regulation and social development through consistent, empathetic support
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure progress and wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to regular reviews of the pupil’s support plan

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience supporting children with Autism (ASC) in a school or similar setting
  • Strong understanding of SEND strategies and inclusive practices
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour and emotional needs
  • Experience working with EHCPs and implementing targeted interventions
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
