Assistant Headteacher (Curriculum and Assessment)
Location: Slough
Start Date: April 2026
Contract: Full-time

We are looking for an exceptional leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher (Curriculum and Assessment).

This is a unique opportunity to shape the academic vision and strategic direction of our school, while remaining true to our values of offering outstanding enrichment opportunities and placing a strong emphasis on pastoral care and pupil wellbeing.

You will become part of an ambitious and forward-looking school in Slough, at an exciting stage in our journey of improvement. We are seeking an inspiring and strategic leader who can drive the continued development and implementation of a curriculum and assessment framework that is academically ambitious, inclusive and responsive to the needs of all learners.

The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a proven record of impact, who is passionate about teaching and learning and committed to securing the best possible outcomes for every pupil.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Direction of the School

  • Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and self-evaluation

  • Work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to drive sustained school improvement

  • Help shape and embed the school’s academic vision, values and priorities

Teaching and Learning

  • Lead the design, development and evaluation of the school’s curriculum and assessment strategy

  • Ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning through coaching, mentoring and quality assurance

  • Use assessment information effectively to inform teaching, raise attainment and address underachievement

Leading and Managing Staff

  • Inspire, support and develop staff through effective leadership and professional development

  • Line manage staff and subject leaders, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement

  • Model outstanding classroom practice and uphold high expectations for teaching, learning and behaviour

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold QTS or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification

  • Have substantial teaching experience with evidence of strong pupil outcomes

  • Demonstrate successful leadership experience or clear leadership potential

  • Possess a strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment and inclusive practice

  • Be committed to safeguarding, equality and the wellbeing of pupils and staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
