Secondary Teacher – Alternative Provision (Behaviour/ SEND)
Location: Wirral
Contract: Full-Time

Salary- £30,000 to £40,000 per year (depending on experience)

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist Secondary Alternative Provision on the Wirral to recruit a confident and resilient Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis. This provision supports young people with a range of additional needs, including SEN and SEMH, many of whom present challenging behaviour and have struggled to thrive in mainstream education.

This role is ideal for a teacher who is confident managing behaviour, skilled at building strong relationships, and motivated by making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.

The role will involve:

  • Teaching small groups of secondary-aged pupils within a structured Alternative Provision setting
  • Managing challenging behaviour using clear boundaries, consistency, and a restorative approach
  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to re-engage pupils in learning
  • Building positive, trusting relationships to support behaviour, attendance, and emotional regulation
  • Working closely with support staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with challenging behaviour in Alternative Provision, SEN, or SEMH settings
  • Is calm, resilient, and confident in high-pressure situations
  • Can adapt teaching strategies to meet a wide range of needs and abilities
  • Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive education

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
