Job description

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated, hard-working, and passionate individual to join a primary school in the Vale of Glamorgan area as an ALN Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time position based in and around the Barry area, and no prior teaching experience is required.

About the Role

As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 support to a pupil within the classroom and throughout a variety of day-to-day school activities. You will be responsible for creating a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment that helps build the pupil’s confidence and encourages progress. The role also involves developing a strong working rapport with the student, delivering effective and constructive feedback, and promoting a child-led approach to learning.

You will need to be confident in managing challenging behaviour when necessary and comfortable supporting the pupil by removing them from potentially triggering environments to ensure their wellbeing and continued engagement.

Location and Working Hours

This role is based within a primary school in the Vale of Glamorgan area. Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30am until 3:30pm.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have an open and supportive approach when working with individuals with Additional Learning Needs. They will demonstrate a positive, energetic, and patient mindset, alongside a genuine passion for helping others and improving every child’s learning experience.

Applicants should feel comfortable working in a school setting and have strong motivation to develop their own skills within an educational environment.

We will also assist you with everything needed to get started, including support with obtaining an Enhanced DBS certificate and EWC Registration.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
