The school is home to a well-established Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Unit alongside a specialist resource provision, supporting learners with a range of additional learning, communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs. The provisions offer a nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and the skills they need to thrive both academically and personally.

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join the support team and help pupils reach their full potential within these specialist settings.

The Role

As an ALN Support Practitioner, you will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to help create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning experience for pupils.

Your responsibilities will include:

✅ Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
✅ Assisting with personalised learning programmes
✅ Encouraging communication, social interaction, and independence skills
✅ Supporting learners with emotional regulation and wellbeing needs
✅ Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
✅ Building trusting relationships with pupils and staff
✅ Supporting learning both within specialist provisions and mainstream classes where appropriate
✅ Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment

Experience supporting individuals with:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
ADHD
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)
Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

Candidates from education, care, youth work, coaching, support work, residential care, or health and social care backgrounds are all encouraged to apply.

Teaching Personnel Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

✔️ Have experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
✔️ Provide references covering the previous two years
✔️ Hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS certificate registered to the Update Service
✔️ Have the legal right to work in the UK
✔️ Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
