Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated ALN Classroom Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to pupils aged 11–16 within a warm and inclusive ALN provision at a vibrant secondary school in Cwmbran.

The school, inspired by its uplifting ethos of “Strive, Believe, Achieve,” boasts a well-established ALN department designed to nurture every learner’s individual needs. Pupils benefit from a rich variety of supportive environments, including complex needs classes, KS4 life skills groups, nurturing sensory rooms, and dedicated emotional and social support sessions. To top it off, therapy dogs are part of the daily routine—bringing calm, comfort, and a sense of wellbeing to the classroom!

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children or individuals with ALN or SEMH needs
  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Bring a positive, proactive, and compassionate mindset with a genuine passion for helping young people thrive
  • Have strong behaviour‑management skills, including the ability to implement and de‑escalate strategies effectively
  • Be confident in delivering tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and ALNCO
    • A commitment to boosting pupil engagement, confidence, and emotional wellbeing

✅Requirements

Must be willing to obtain (at your own cost) or already hold the following. Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training
  • At least two professional references covering 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
