1:1 ASD Teaching Assistant
Location: Carmarthen
Start Date: ASAP

Are you a patient, compassionate and dedicated individual looking to make a real difference in a child’s education? We are seeking a 1:1 ASD Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive school in Carmarthen.

About the Role

We are looking for someone to provide individualised support for a primary-aged pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ideal candidate will help the learner access the curriculum, regulate emotions, build communication skills and develop independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely on a 1:1 basis with a child with ASD
  • Support learning activities set by the class teacher
  • Implement personalised strategies to support communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation
  • Promote a positive, nurturing and structured learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, ALNCo, and external professionals
  • Record and provide feedback on progress and behaviour

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with ASD (school or care settings welcome)
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
  • Understanding of ASD, sensory needs and communication differences
  • Good organisational skills and willingness to learn
  • Level 2/3 TA qualification is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
