1:1 Teaching Assistant - Secondary School

Location: B11, Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a male Year 8 student at a welcoming mainstream secondary school in the B11 area of Birmingham.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a positive difference to a young person's educational journey. The successful candidate will provide tailored support throughout the school day, helping the student access learning, engage confidently in lessons, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 8 student throughout the school day.
• Assist the student in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
• Support the student's social, emotional, and academic development.
• Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals to implement support strategies.
• Promote independence while ensuring the student's safety and wellbeing at all times.
• Provide personal care support as required, therefore applicants must be comfortable supporting a student with mobility needs.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
• A patient, caring, and empathetic approach.
• Confidence supporting students with additional needs.
• Comfortable providing personal care and supporting mobility requirements.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable, although support can be provided to obtain one.
