Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to work across Dewsbury on a supply basis, helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with SEN.

Role Overview: As a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with special educational needs are provided with the individualised support they require to thrive in a classroom setting. You will work closely with classroom teachers, SEN coordinators, and other school staff to implement tailored strategies and interventions that cater to the specific needs of the students you support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning plans and accommodations designed by the SEN team.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for students, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure consistent communication and alignment of strategies.
  • Monitor and record the progress of students, adapting support strategies as needed.
  • Support students in building their confidence, independence, and self-esteem.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, either in a school or similar setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the diverse needs of students.
  • Flexibility to work on a supply basis, adapting to different school environments.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support would be advantageous.
