We are recruiting for a Youth Worker to support students in class across the subject areas and deliver targeted interventions to students on a 1:1 basis during lessons and break times. Due to some of the students displaying challenging behaviour, the role will also involve working closely with pupils who have been withdrawn from lessons.

The school caters for secondary aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) as well as other difficulties including ADHD and Autism.

As a result of this you would be supporting the teacher in classes of no more than 10 pupils. Your role as a Youth Worker will mainly involve supporting the pupils with their new routines and classes, helping them to adapt to their school routine both academically and socially. The lessons would be differentiated using the National curriculum as a guide to support the pupil’s future education and career plans despite their additional needs and often challenging home lives.

This role demands motivation, passion, patience and the ability to emotionally support children who are from vulnerable backgrounds and situations.

The successful Youth Worker would have:

  • Some experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour
  • Experience of de-escalation training would be advantageous
  • The school would also consider candidates from youth work backgrounds, or similar roles 

The school is located in the Trafford area and has great transport links to the surrounding area and Manchester City centre, including buses and trains.

To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
