Summary: The head of a client specialist provision based in the Newport area is looking for a Youth Offending Support Officer to work on a one to one basis with a male year 9 pupil that can display challenging behaviour and at times be confrontational.  Pay will be based on experience but will range from GBP60.00 - GBP70.00 a day. Previous experience is desired but not essential; a sports, psychology or youth background can be advantageous for the role.

The School: The Pupil Referral Unit caters for pupils of secondary age that may be diagnosed with autism or co-existing conditions including ADHD, learning difficulties, anxiety, Tourette’s syndrome, epilepsy and or challenging behaviour. Based in the centre of Newport, this school is easily accessible through public transport and has parking on arrival for those that drive.

The Successful Youth Offending Support Officer will:

• Have relevant experience in the field

• Be confident

• Show great resilience

• Have good behaviour management skills

• Have a passion for helping others

The ideal Youth Offending Support Officer will be enthusiastic and show great behaviour management skills. You will be confident and not be fazed by challenging behaviour in the classroom. Resilience is key for succeeding in this role. You will be expected to work between 8:30am-3:30pm. The school is run by a successful team of supporting staff. The students that attend the client previous experience in PRU or a similar field is essential for this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
