Job description

A welcoming and community-focused primary school in the St Mellons area is looking to appoint an experienced and resilient Year 6 Teacher for the final 7 weeks of the academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who thrives on building relationships, creating structure and making a genuine difference during a crucial transition period for pupils before secondary school.

The class can present with some challenging behaviour and will require a strong, nurturing and consistent approach. The school is specifically looking for somebody who can balance high expectations with patience, empathy and excellent behaviour management skills. Building trust and positive relationships with pupils will be key in this role.

This position would suit:

  • An experienced KS2 teacher
  • A confident ECT with strong behaviour management experience
  • A teacher with a nurturing, calm and adaptable approach
  • Somebody who is passionate about supporting children emotionally as well as academically

The successful candidate will:

  • Take full responsibility for a Year 6 class for the remainder of the academic year
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across the curriculum
  • Support pupils with SATs recovery, transition preparation and emotional wellbeing
  • Work closely with the wider SLT and support staff
  • Create a positive, safe and consistent classroom environment

This role is available immediately after May half term and will continue through to the end of the summer term. Daily pay is set up to £180 per day.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
