Year 5 Primary Teacher – Full-Time Supply
Location: York and surrounding areas
Pay: £140 – £220 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time Supply
We are currently seeking a confident, enthusiastic, and adaptable Year 5 Primary Teacher to work on a full-time supply basis across welcoming primary schools in York and the surrounding areas. This role is ideal for teachers who enjoy the flexibility of supply work while benefiting from the consistency of longer-term placements. Whether you are an experienced Key Stage 2 teacher, an Early Career Teacher (ECT), or a teacher returning to the classroom, this opportunity offers a rewarding chance to make a real impact at a crucial stage of pupils’ education.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the Year 5 National Curriculum.

Confidently follow pre-planned schemes of work while adapting lessons to meet the needs of all learners.

Maintain a calm, well-managed classroom environment with clear expectations for behaviour and learning.

Support pupils’ progress across core and foundation subjects, with particular focus on literacy and numeracy.

Assess learning informally and provide constructive feedback to support pupil development.
What We’re Looking For
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Recent experience teaching Year 5 or upper Key Stage 2.

Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering the Year 5 curriculum.

Effective classroom management skills with the ability to motivate and engage pupils.

An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one prior to starting work.
