A friendly and ambitious mainstream primary school in Darwen is looking to appoint a Year 5 Teacher for a 1‑year maternity cover position. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed educator who is passionate about supporting upper Key Stage 2 pupils as they prepare for the transition into Year 6.

Teaching responsibilities

  • Delivering high‑quality, engaging lessons to a Year 5 class.

  • Supporting pupils’ academic progress across core subjects, ensuring strong foundations for Year 6.

  • Using assessment data to plan effectively and personalise learning.

  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.

  • Contributing to a collaborative school culture and participating in wider school life.

  • A qualified teacher with experience in Key Stage 2, ideally upper KS2.

  • Strong curriculum knowledge and the ability to deliver lessons that stretch and support all learners.
