Job description

We are currently seeking a dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a specialist provision supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and associated additional needs, starting in September.

This setting caters for primary-aged pupils, providing a structured and nurturing environment where children can develop both academically and socially. Pupils may present with a range of barriers to learning, and the provision is committed to delivering high-quality, personalised education that supports every child’s individual journey.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 1 class, working alongside an experienced team of Teaching Assistants to create an engaging, supportive, and consistent learning environment. The class is described as a positive, welcoming group of pupils with strong potential to thrive with the right support.

This role will involve teaching children at varying developmental stages, including those who may be non-verbal. As such, experience or confidence using alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or other visual strategies is highly desirable.

  • Be a qualified Primary Teacher (QTS or equivalent)
  • Have experience or confidence in teaching pupils working at early developmental stages or P-levels
  • Have experience working within a specialist or SEND setting, particularly with ASC
  • Be committed to inclusive education and supporting pupils with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
