Pay: £93 per day (paid weekly)
Location: Barry
Hours: Part-time (3 days per week, Monday–Friday)

Are you a fluent Welsh speaker with a passion for supporting children in their learning? Do you enjoy helping pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally through the medium of Welsh?

We are currently seeking a 1:1 Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Welsh-medium primary school in Barry. This part-time role (3 days per week) offers a fantastic opportunity to provide dedicated, individual support to a pupil, helping them access the curriculum and reach their full potential within a nurturing, language-rich environment.

This position is ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants, childcare practitioners, graduates, or individuals looking to begin or develop a career in education—particularly within Welsh-medium settings.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 support to a pupil within a Welsh-medium classroom
• Supporting learning activities through the medium of Welsh
• Assisting the class teacher in adapting and delivering learning tasks
• Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive behaviour
• Supporting the pupil’s social, emotional, and communication development
• Promoting and modelling the Welsh language throughout the school day
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

 

What Schools Are Looking For

• Fluent spoken (and ideally written) Welsh
• A patient, caring, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to build a consistent, trusting 1:1 relationship with a pupil
• A genuine passion for working with children in a Welsh-medium setting
• Previous experience in education or childcare (desirable but not essential)
