Hours: Full-time / Part-time / Day-to-day (Monday–Friday)

Welsh-Speaking Gap Year Students Wanted – Gain Valuable School Experience

Taking a gap year before / after university or your next career step? Are you a fluent Welsh speaker looking for a rewarding opportunity to gain valuable experience while making a difference in the lives of young learners?

We are currently recruiting Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistants to support pupils in welcoming and supportive Welsh-medium primary schools across Cardiff. With full-time, part-time, and flexible day-to-day opportunities available, this role is ideal for gap year students interested in education, psychology, childcare, social work, healthcare, or any career involving work with children and young people.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop professional skills, build your confidence, strengthen your CV, and gain first-hand experience in a classroom environment while supporting pupils through the medium of Welsh.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting teachers with classroom activities and lesson delivery through the medium of Welsh
• Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils
• Assisting with literacy, numeracy, and learning activities
• Encouraging the use and development of the Welsh language throughout the school day
• Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

What We're Looking For

• Fluent Welsh speaker (spoken and written)
• Enthusiastic, reliable, and proactive attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A genuine passion for working with children and young people
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Previous experience working with children is beneficial but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
