We are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Wakefield, where you'll play a vital role in helping pupils flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring they can fully engage with their learning and achieve their personal goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning activities.
  • Supporting children's emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Encouraging engagement, independence, and confidence.
  • Helping to manage behaviour positively and effectively.
  • Contributing to the implementation of EHCPs and individual support plans.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children with SEN or in a similar support role however, this is not mandatory.
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential for candidates with suitable experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
