Job description

Teaching Assistant – Specialist School | Berkeley, Gloucestershire
6-Month Fixed Term | Term Time Only | Full-Time (40 hrs/week)
£22,996 – £25,068 per year (£12.87 – £14.03 per hour) 

We are looking for a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school supporting children aged 11–16 with SEMH needs. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and independence in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and engaged.

  • Promote independence, personal development, and positive behaviour.

  • Assist with teaching and classroom management, supporting a broad and engaging curriculum.

  • Work with the multi-professional team to support pupils’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.

  • Accurately complete records, including incidents, health, and behaviour reports.

About You:

  • Patient, caring, and resilient with a passion for supporting young people.

  • Experience in SEN, education, care, or youth support is beneficial but not essential.

  • Team player with strong communication skills and a flexible, proactive approach.
