About the Role

TP Tutors is seeking experienced SEND Tutors and Behaviour Management Specialists to provide personalised 1:1 educational and behavioural support to children and young people across Leicestershire and surrounding areas.

This role is ideal for experienced teachers, tutors, learning mentors, behaviour specialists, SEND professionals, youth workers and education practitioners with experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, challenging behaviour and barriers to learning.

You will work with pupils who may be unable to access mainstream education, are awaiting or transitioning between placements, require alternative provision, or need intensive support to re-engage with learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 SEND tuition and educational support.
• Support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, communication needs and other additional needs.
• Manage challenging or distressed behaviour using positive behaviour support, de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies.
• Build trusting relationships and create calm, structured and predictable learning environments.
• Identify triggers and barriers to learning and adapt sessions to individual needs.
• Develop and deliver personalised learning and intervention plans.
• Provide academic support across Primary, Secondary and GCSE levels where appropriate.
• Support pupils with EHCPs and individualised targets.
• Promote confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Monitor and record progress, engagement, attendance and behaviour.
• Complete clear session reports and communicate effectively with parents/carers, schools, Local Authorities and other professionals.
• Maintain professional boundaries and safeguarding standards.

Essential Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years' UK experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, SEND or education-related roles.
• Experience supporting children and young people with SEND is essential.
• Experience with SEMH, challenging behaviour, autism, ADHD, communication or learning difficulties is highly desirable.

Behaviour Management

• Strong practical experience in behaviour management, de-escalation and emotional regulation.
• Ability to remain calm, patient and professional when supporting challenging or distressed behaviour.

Qualifications

• QTS or another recognised teaching qualification is preferred but not essential.
• SEND, behaviour management, education, youth work, mentoring or trauma-informed training is advantageous.

Skills

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patience, resilience and adaptability.
• Ability to tailor teaching and support strategies to individual needs.

Compliance

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
