Job description
For some young people, education isn’t just about grades it’s about stability, trust, and having at least one adult who shows up, every time.
We are looking for experienced, compassionate tutors in Oxfordshire to work with primary and secondary pupils, including those preparing for GCSEs. Many of the learners you’ll support have experienced disruption, uncertainty, or challenging circumstances. What they need most is consistency someone who can guide them academically while being a steady, positive presence in their lives.
This role goes beyond tutoring. You’ll be a mentor, role model, and advocate for progress.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering personalised, in-person tuition in Maths and English (additional subjects are a bonus)
- Supporting both primary learners and secondary/GCSE pupils
- Adapting your approach to meet the needs of pupils who may have experienced trauma or significant life changes
- Building trust and providing consistency throughout each pupil’s tuition journey
- Encouraging confidence, resilience, and a more positive relationship with learning
- Recording attendance, lesson objectives, and clear session summaries
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience
- Strong experience in Maths and English
- A genuine understanding of how to support and nurture vulnerable pupils
- Patience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to create a safe, supportive learning environment
- Reliability, commitment and consistency is key in this role
- Availability of at least 10–15 hours per week

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
