1:1 Tutor – Birmingham

Location: Birmingham and surrounding areas
Hours: Flexible, during school hours
Setting: Pupil's home or school setting
Pay: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

We are currently seeking experienced and passionate 1:1 Tutors to support pupils across Birmingham. Tuition sessions will take place either in the pupil's home or within a school setting during school hours.

This is an excellent opportunity for qualified and experienced educators who are committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their academic potential through personalised support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective one-to-one tuition tailored to each pupil's individual needs.
  • Plan and prepare lessons that support academic progress and learning outcomes.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, families, schools, and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records of tuition sessions and pupil development.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years' teaching experience within a school, tutoring, or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach confidently at the appropriate level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Access to reliable transport and willingness to travel across Birmingham and surrounding areas.

Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, SEMH, or those receiving alternative provision.
  • Experience delivering intervention programmes and personalised learning plans.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
