Job description

Support Success – Secondary Tutors Needed (Buckinghamshire)

Are you a knowledgeable and adaptable tutor with a passion for helping students succeed in their exams?

We’re looking for experienced secondary tutors to work with young people across Buckinghamshire, particularly in Beaconsfield, Great Missenden, and High Wycombe. These students are currently out of mainstream education and need focused, personalised support as they prepare for upcoming exams.

About the Role
You will deliver 1:1 or small group sessions, typically between 9:00am – 3:00pm, with a strong focus on exam preparation and core subject support. Your role will be to help students build subject knowledge, improve exam techniques, and grow in confidence ahead of their assessments.

Many learners have experienced disrupted education and may be working below expected levels, so lessons should be adaptable, structured, and encouraging.

A number of students will also have SEN (Special Educational Needs) and EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), requiring a patient and understanding approach.

Where You’ll Teach
Sessions are delivered in a range of settings to best suit each learner, including:

  • Home environments (family or care settings)
  • Online tuition
  • School or alternative provision settings
  • Libraries and local community spaces

Flexibility across different teaching environments is important.

Availability
Tutors should be available for at least 10–15 hours per week, within daytime hours.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience teaching secondary-level subjects, particularly in the lead-up to exams
  • Ability to support students with revision strategies and exam techniques
  • Experience working with SEN students, including those with EHCPs
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Confidence adapting lessons to suit a variety of needs and abilities
  • A genuine drive to help students achieve their potential

Why Join Us?
You’ll be supporting students at a crucial point in their education—helping them overcome barriers, gain qualifications, and move forward with confidence. Your guidance can make a real and lasting difference.

If you’re ready to help students turn preparation into success, we’d love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
