TP Tutors works with a range of schools and local authority clients in Darlington and as such we receive a range of referrals for pupils in need of tuition.

We are looking for experienced teachers to work with our pupils, as we endeavour to offer the best possible interventions and achieve the best possible outcomes for each and every one.

We have varying opportunities for tuition including:

NTP/school-based Tutor

-          Working 1:1 or with small groups of children in school or using our online classroom to help prepare them for their GCSEs/SATs.

-          Using school’s assessment data to track progress.

-          Planning your own sessions according to needs.

-          Recording progress and reporting back to the school.

Core Subject Tuition

-          We receive referrals for 1:1 tuition that may take place in the school day or after school.

-          You would manage your own diary and book the pupils in yourself to match your availability.

-          Plan and deliver your own sessions.

-          Tuition can take place in school, the child’s home or a community venue as arranged by the referrer.

-          Record progress on online monitoring system.

-          Most pupils will have one or two 2-hour sessions per week.

Tutors for Looked After Children or children with SEMH needs

-          Getting alongside a young person (generally KS3) who isn’t currently engaging in any other form of education.

-          Working on building confidence and re-engaging them in education.

-          Gradually building up a picture of the child’s attainment and planning sessions to help them make progress.

-          Often these pupils require someone to work with them on multiple subjects, as engaging two tutors at once isn’t always appropriate.

-          This type of tuition is much less academic focused and more about nurture and relationship building. It’s often meeting them 2 to 5 times a week for two-hour sessions, in their homes or in a community venue.

Pupils may need tuition for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Behavioural difficulties (pupils excluded from school and awaiting a new placement)
