Location: Caerphilly, South Wales
Pay: £93 per day – Teaching Assistant | £120 per day – Cover Supervisor via PAYE weekly pay
Contract: Full-time or part-time | Long-term placements available

Looking to start a career in education but don't have formal teaching experience?

We're recruiting Trainee Teaching Assistants, Teaching Assistants and Unqualified Teachers to work in supportive secondary schools across Caerphilly.

You don't need previous classroom experience. We'll provide the training and guidance you need to get started, with the opportunity to progress into Cover Supervisor roles as you gain experience and confidence.

This is an ideal opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, career changers and anyone with experience working with children or young people.

Teaching Assistant – Your Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced teachers and school staff to support pupils in the classroom.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis
  • Helping teachers deliver engaging lessons
  • Supporting pupils with SEN, additional learning needs and behaviour needs
  • Providing additional support to pupils who need extra guidance
  • Helping pupils stay focused, engaged and confident in their learning
  • Supporting classroom routines and creating a positive learning environment
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and school staff

Cover Supervisor – Your Role

As you gain classroom experience, there may be opportunities to progress into a Cover Supervisor position.

You'll receive guidance and training to help you confidently:

  • Supervise classes during teacher absence
  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons and learning activities
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's systems
  • Keep pupils engaged and on task
  • Support a calm, safe and productive learning environment
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons

Who We're Looking For

You don't need to be a qualified teacher. We're interested in people who are:

  • Reliable, professional and enthusiastic
  • Confident communicating with young people
  • Patient and approachable
  • Comfortable working as part of a school team
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Keen to learn and develop a career in education

Your background could include:

  • Graduate or recent graduate
  • PGCE or teacher training candidate
  • Career changer
  • Youth worker
  • Sports coach
  • Childcare or care worker
  • Teaching Assistant
  • Learning Support Assistant
  • Mentor or tutor
  • Customer service or other people-facing roles

Previous experience working with children or young people is useful but not essential. The right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are what matter most.

You'll be placed in secondary schools across Caerphilly, with opportunities for both new and experienced education professionals.

Our schools offer structured behaviour systems, supportive staff teams and opportunities to gain valuable classroom experience. Where a placement is a good fit, there may also be opportunities for longer-term work.
