Trainee Teaching Assistant – Secondary Schools in Wigan

This role is perfect for individuals eager to gain classroom experience before pursuing a pathway into teaching, special educational needs (SEND), pastoral support, or educational psychology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom teaching across a variety of subjects
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils who need extra help
  • Assist in preparing learning materials and organising displays
  • Help manage behaviour and track student progress
  • Build strong working relationships with staff, pupils, and families
  • Take part in regular training and receive ongoing support throughout the school year

What We Are Looking For:

  • Enthusiastic, caring and committed to supporting young people
  • Confident communicator and a dependable team player
  • Punctual, organised, and willing to take initiative
  • Open to feedback and eager to develop professionally

Desirable Experience (Not Essential):

  • Volunteering or work experience with children or young people
  • An interest in pursuing a career in education or youth services
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
