Starting December 2026 | Full-time until July 2027

Make a Positive Impact in a Secondary School Setting

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in the Chepstow area from December. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to support young people during a crucial stage of their education while gaining valuable classroom experience.

Working with pupils aged 11-16, you'll play an important role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential both academically and personally.

About the Position

This varied and rewarding role will involve providing support within lessons, working with small groups, and delivering focused 1:1 assistance where required. A significant part of the role may involve supporting students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), helping them engage positively with school life and the curriculum.

You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create an inclusive learning environment where all learners can thrive.

If you succeed in the Teaching Assistant role, there will be an opportunity for progression into a classroom supervisor role where you will be responsible for managing a classroom in the absence of a teacher.  This progression route is completely optional, but is great for anyone considering teaching in the future and does allow you to earn the higher pay rate for this role of £115

We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate relevant experience, qualifications, or transferable skills that would allow them to succeed in an educational setting.

We'd Love to Hear From You If You:

✔ Have experience supporting children or young people

✔ Have worked with individuals with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

✔ Hold a qualification in a relevant field such as Education, Psychology, Sports Coaching, Youth Work, Health & Social Care, or a core academic subject

✔ Are a graduate looking to gain school-based experience

✔ Have a background in support work, care, mentoring, coaching, or youth engagement

✔ Are patient, resilient, and passionate about helping young people succeed

Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service
  • Register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Complete Level 2 Safeguarding Training as part of the onboarding process
  • Provide two professional references covering the last two years

If you don't currently hold all of the above, our team will support you through the necessary steps.
