We have an exciting Trainee Classroom Leader opportunity at a forward‑thinking secondary school in Chepstow, working with young people aged 11–18. This role is an ideal stepping‑stone for anyone aspiring to teach or gain strong behaviour‑management experience, offering valuable opportunities to support learners and confidently lead or manage a classroom.
The school believes in “building bridges to the future,” encouraging both staff and learners to explore limitless opportunities and build the confidence they need for their next steps.
You’ll also play an active role within The Hwb, the school’s specialist provision — a warm, welcoming space with intervention rooms, homework support hubs, and a highly supportive Alternative Learning Provision (ALP) team. Here, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience working with pupils who have additional learning or behavioural needs.
You’ll act as a consistent and encouraging role model supporting them in lessons and stepping up confidently to lead and manage a class when required!
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants who can bring:
- Relevant experience in youth work, coaching, care, mentoring, or similar roles
- Confidence to lead and manage a class when required — perfect for those wanting to build behaviour‑management and classroom‑leadership experience
- Confidence, kindness, and calmness in challenging or high‑pressure situations
- An understanding of the emotional, social, and behavioural needs of young people
- The ability to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or behavioural needs
- A genuine passion for helping children succeed emotionally, socially, and academically
✅Requirements
Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:
- Must be 18 or over
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- At least two professional references covering the past two years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
