£92.63 - 92.63 per day

Job description

Looking for work that fits around your life?

Whether you're a university student, a childcare professional looking for extra hours, someone returning to work, or simply looking for a flexible role where no two days are the same, this could be exactly what you're looking for.

We're currently growing our team of reliable, adaptable Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Cardiff. Schools rely heavily on us to provide cover for day-to-day staff absences, meaning we always have opportunities available for people who can step into a classroom, build positive relationships quickly, and confidently support children from the moment they arrive.

This isn't a role where you'll be stuck in the same school every day. You'll have the chance to work in a variety of primary schools, supporting children of different ages and abilities while gaining fantastic experience along the way.

What we're looking for

You don't necessarily need previous experience as a Teaching Assistant. If you've worked with children in any capacity, we'd love to hear from you.

This could include:

  • Childcare or nursery work
  • Coaching or sports activities
  • Youth work
  • Holiday clubs
  • Play schemes
  • Residential care
  • Tutoring
  • Volunteering with children
  • Supporting children with additional learning needs

The most important thing is that you're confident, approachable, adaptable, and genuinely enjoy working with young people.

The role

As one of our flexible Teaching Assistants, you'll:

  • Support class teachers across a range of primary schools
  • Work with children from Nursery through to Year 6
  • Assist with classroom activities and learning tasks
  • Help create a positive, engaging learning environment
  • Adapt quickly to different schools, classes, and routines
  • Build positive relationships with both staff and pupils

Every day can be different, which makes this role perfect for someone who enjoys variety and can think on their feet.

Flexibility that actually works

We understand that everyone's circumstances are different.

That's why you can choose:

✅ Which days you want to work
✅ How many days per week you want to work
✅ When you're available

Using our simple booking app, you can mark your availability and we'll match you with suitable work. Whether you're looking for one day a week or five, we'll work around you.

Getting around Cardiff

Our schools are based across Cardiff, so being able to travel is important. If you have access to a car, that's great, but it isn't essential. Many of our placements are accessible via public transport, so we're happy to hear from candidates who are comfortable travelling around the city.

Why join us?

  • Flexible working to suit your lifestyle
  • A variety of school experiences
  • Opportunities to build your confidence and skills
  • Excellent experience for anyone considering a career in education
  • Friendly, supportive consultants who know our schools inside out
  • Competitive daily rates
  • Work available throughout the academic year

If you're someone who can walk into a classroom with a positive attitude, adapt quickly, and make a difference to a child's day, we'd love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
