Teaching Assistant - Trauma Informed

A small, specialist SEMH provision in the Lancaster (LA2) area is looking to appoint an additional Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from October half-term. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people who require a nurturing, trauma-informed approach to education. The setting provides a safe and supportive environment for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs..

The Role

• Full-time, Monday to Friday
• Hours: 8:30am - 3:00pm
• Term-time only
• Starting from October half-term
• Long-term position with the potential to become permanent

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking someone with experience supporting children, young people or adults with SEMH needs. This experience may have been gained within education, care, youth work, mental health services, residential settings, support work or other relevant backgrounds.

• Have a calm, patient and resilient approach
• Understand the impact of trauma on behaviour and learning
• Be confident building positive relationships and boundaries
• Be passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to achieve positive outcomes

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience supporting SEMH needs
• A trauma-informed approach to supporting learners
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle due to the location of the provision
