Teaching Assistant – Taunton

Are you passionate about supporting children and helping them thrive in the classroom? Teaching Personnel is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming school in Taunton from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, supporting their learning and development, and making a positive difference within the classroom.
About the Role
You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide engaging and effective support to pupils. The role may involve working with individuals, small groups, or supporting the whole class depending on the needs of the school.

Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Taunton, Somerset
Start Date: September 2026
Role Type: Full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:15pm
Contract: Long-term opportunity
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
Working Pattern: Term Time Only
Your Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with their learning and development
- Working with individuals and small groups to provide targeted support
- Assisting the class teacher with classroom activities and lesson preparation
- Helping create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Supporting pupils with their social and emotional development
- Encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining classroom routines
- Providing support to pupils with additional learning needs where required
- Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
We Are Looking For
- Experience working with children is desirable
- A genuine passion for supporting children and their education
- A patient, positive, and encouraging approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Confidence working independently and as part of a wider school team
- Reliability and flexibility
- A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- Experience supporting children with SEND would be advantageous but is not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
