Teaching Assistant – Primary School Supply
Location: Wigan
Contract: Supply / Short-Term / Long-Term Opportunities
Start Date: September 2026
Teaching Personnel are looking for enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistants to support a local primary school from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, recent graduate, aspiring teacher or education professional looking for flexible work within a supportive primary school environment.
The role will involve working alongside class teachers to support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing. Depending on the needs of the school, you may provide support within the classroom, work with small groups or offer individual assistance to pupils who require additional support.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils with their day-to-day learning
- Working alongside the class teacher to deliver activities
- Providing targeted support to individuals and small groups
- Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
- Assisting with classroom organisation and preparation
- Providing pastoral support where required
- Contributing to a positive and inclusive classroom environment
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Experience within a school, nursery or educational setting is desirable
- A patient, nurturing and encouraging approach
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Confidence supporting pupils with a range of abilities
- A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- A proactive and flexible attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
