We are currently seeking an SEN teaching assistant to work at one of our local school’s in Yeovil. The school works with children with medical needs in Primary and Secondary education. The school has six different sites in and around the Yeovil area. Each site caters for a different need i.e. Secondary Medical and Mental health, KS4 behaviour, Middle school behaviour. You will be working on the site that caters for Year 2 - Year 8 students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)

The role will involve working within the class to support the class teacher with their lessons, working alongside a team of support staff in class and working on a 1:1 basis with students.

The successful candidate will:

  • have experience working within a school setting
  • have experience working with children and/or adults who have SEMH or display challenging behaviour
  • be resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
  • Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant in a special needs school
  • Have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing
  • be nurturing and enthusiastic
  • have experience in delivering outdoor education/experience within the sports industry

This is a full time role, starting immediately. It is a temporary position but there is the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
