Teaching Personnel are working with one of their highly credible partnership schools who are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants to work within their supportive and vibrant Special Needs Department.
Job Purpose: To support the school in the implementation of its aims and objectives as specified in the Improvement Plan and Policy statements. To have a role as a Teaching Assistant contributing to the work of the Special Needs Department in facilitating equal access to the mainstream curriculum of all students, whatever their individual learning needs.
Key Tasks
- Liaising with Teaching Assistant Team Leader and/or SENCO regarding the specific classes where support work will be carried out and the needs of specific students within any one class.
- Work collaboratively with subject teachers to help all students in the classroom to participate fully in the lesson, but primarily concentrating on students on the Inclusion Register.
- Withdrawal of individual or small groups of students where this is deemed to be necessary to enable completion of work as directed by the teacher, to fulfil the requirements of a pupil’s Individual Education Plan or to support learning.
- Developing an awareness of the appropriateness of the learning resources used to meet the needs of students and to liaise with the SENCO on matters of differentiation (i.e. matching learning materials to meet the individual needs of students).
- Contributing to the compilation and review of relevant individual education plans and attend annual reviews where necessary.
- To attend CPD training.
- To contribute to the induction and support the development of new staff.
- The sharing of professional practice with the team.
- To upkeep data files, catalogue resources, maintain inventories, photocopy and use IT systems for administration and educational purposes.
- To provide appropriate support for statemented students as detailed in their individual statements.
- Any other duties commensurate with the post as directed by the Teaching Assistant Team Leader or SENCO.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
