Job Title: ALN Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant
Location: Newport
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 15:30
Pay: Minimum £11.85ph
Start: January 2024
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a partnership school based in Newport, to support a class in the schools LRB unit. The classroom has around 8-10 children, of all primary ages, who have severe ASD and some with behavioural issues. We are seeking a patient, resilient and pro-active teaching assistant to help support this class and those pupils to thrive.
A Successful Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant will require:
- To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
- Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
- Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.
- To be strong and resilient when facing challenging behaviour.
Whilst having experience working with children who have ALN in a professional setting is desirable, we welcome applications from people who strive to make a positive impact and who have personal experience or someone who is willing to fully engage and develop skills in the area.
ALN Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant responsibilities:
- Work closely with a small class of pupils with varying severities of ALN.
- Be a positive and encouraging staff member, actively supporting the children in their personal and academic development.
- Establish and nurture trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents while providing essential social and emotional support.
- Cultivate a positive, caring, and safe environment to ensure the flourishing of each pupil.
- Adhere strictly to the school's safeguarding and protection policies.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow Teachers and Teaching Assistants, promoting strong teamwork to create class cohesion.
- Adapt to dynamic situations within the classroom and during break times.
- Demonstrate a willingness to provide personal care for pupils as needed.
